About the Sahara Sands Saddle Club PDF Print E-mail

Sahara Sands was formed over twenty years ago, and each year we put on an Arabian horse show in the early spring with the goal of offering the best Arabian horse show we can, a show that is friendly and easy for exhibitors. We want to encourage families to get involved with the Arabian and Half Arabian horse.

The Sahara Sands Spring Classic Show is held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, Minnesota, usually on the first full weekend in May. Riders show in the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum so they don't need to be concerned about the Minnesota spring weather.

Sahara Sands limits membership to twenty-five family members, with our top priority being that all members must work the show. Only a few outside officials are hired, such as the judge, farrier, steward, medic, and announcer.

Since Sahara Sands is a non-profit organization, at least 40-50% of any profit from the show is donated to charities, some are horse related and others not.

If we have a good year, we also hold one banquet for all our hard working members, and if it's a bad year we all get together at someone's house to grill brats and hot dogs. Working so closely together on our show produces a group of members who love the Arabian horse and who truly enjoy one another's company, and our efforts bring new friends to the breed and to our shows.
